The Prince William branch of The University Writing Center offers
tutoring services four days a week at the Prince William Campus, in Occoquan
Building, room 204. A trained tutor is on site to assist students at any
stage of the writing process. Students seeking assistance with their writing
can make an appointment by logging-on to the writing center website at
http://writingcenter.gmu.edu and following the directions for scheduling
appointments online.
Appointments last 45 minutes and begin on the half hour. Tutors work
with students to improve their overall writing skills as well as the
paper at hand. Sessions run most smoothly if students remember to bring
along a copy of the teacher's assignment and have some idea of the kinds
of issues they'd like to discuss. Tutors can't proofread papers for students,
but they will work with students on particular grammatical and sentence
concerns in addition to larger concerns such as thesis construction, organization,
style and tone, integrating, citing and documenting research, and so on.
Students unable to make appointments during available times may make use
of the Online Writing Lab (OWL) at http://writingcenter.gmu.edu/owl/index.html.
The writing center web site also includes online workshops, handouts,
lots of helpful links and resources for writers, and complete information
about the procedures and policies of the Writing Center.

Parking is enforced at the Prince William Campus (PWC) and a valid George
Mason parking permit is required of all faculty, staff, and students.
George Mason Fairfax Campus parking decals are honored at the Prince William
Campus and vice versa. Arlington parking decals will also be honored at
PWC and Fairfax, but PWC and Fairfax parking decals ARE NOT honored at
Arlington without permission from Parking Services.
It is important to note: Parking in the Freedom
Center Parking Lot is restricted. The Freedom Center lot is reserved for
Freedom Center patrons only (even for individuals attending class in the
Freedom Center). GMU faculty and students must use the Occoquan, King,
or Discovery lots or risk receiving a parking ticket.
Parking Pay Station machines are located at the Occoquan Parking Lot Information
Kiosk and in the Discovery Hall first floor lobby area. These machines
address the parking permit needs of individuals visiting the campus on
a short-term basis when a semester/yearly decal would be beyond what is
necessary. When making use of this service, you must remember the parking
space number in which you've parked. The system works by entering your
parking space number into the Parking Pay Station machine and paying for
the amount of parking time needed. It is important to note that a vehicle
which leaves a paid space prior to the expiration of time relinquishes
any balance of time without refund. The balance of time does NOT transfer
to any other spaces. Rates are $1 per hour. Individuals can pay for parking
in one-hour increments. The machines accept $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills
(U.S. currency only) and give receipts.
Visitors: Visitors may park in the Occoquan and Discovery Lot with payment.
A limited number of free 30 minute parking spaces are available in the
Occoquan Lot.
A limited number of "Reserved - Special Guest" parking spaces
are available in the Occoquan Lot for visitors and guests attending one
day meetings. Use of these spaces must be reserved in advance through
the Prince William Office of Administration, 703-993-8334.
Motorcycle Parking is available in the King Lot.
Handicap Parking: Handicap parking is available at a number of convenient
locations in each PWC parking lot. To use handicap parking at GMU, a valid
DMV handicap permit (tag or placard), along with any valid GMU parking
permit, must be displayed. DMV permits alone are not valid for parking
on campus in parking areas or lots.
